In spite of the widely held belief that Fender made their best guitars from the early ’50s to the mid ‘60s, the company did make some fantastic instruments after the CBS takeover in 1965.  One such example was the ’68 Telecaster.  Possessing a warm but still very “twangy” tone, a maple neck with a cool maple laminate finger board, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish(during the first half of the year), it was a great example of a quality CBS era guitar. Fender made numerous changes to the model after this particular period, but 1968 Teles were and are the cat’s meow to scores of players.  Brent Mason’s highly modified Tele is from 1968.  Need I say more?  This particular Custom Shop instrument has the best features from that year, as well as some subtle added ones.  The entire guitar has a nitro finish. The neck has a very comfortable “enhanced” ‘60s oval neck carve, with a 7.25” to 9.25” compound radius fingerboard.  The ’67 Custom Shop Tele pickups and 2-piece “sorted for lightness” alder body round out the package.  This reviewer is a self described “Telecaster Nut” and all I can say is this one has a spectacular feel and sound to it.  If you don’t want to take my word for it, feel free to come by and crank this bad boy up!

It is difficult to judge the condition of an “aged” guitar, because the various dents and scrapes actually enhance the desirability of it, and it is virtually impossible to tell what marks were original or "acquired" later.   Regardless, this one is in perfect playing condition and very likely looks just like it did when it left the factory. Excellent Condition.
