Gibson’s Custom Shop is known for making some instruments that look as great as they sound and the CS-356 is arguably one of their most elegant designs. Smaller than an ES-335 but larger than a 339 or Les Paul, the CS-356 is perhaps the most balanced size of the bunch. Part of what sets it apart is its all solid wood construction, which yields superb resonance and a wonderful harmonic texture.

This particular CS-356 is exceedingly special as it features a stunningly figured, flamed Koa top in place of its usual Maple top. This substitution not only gives an visual flair but instills some of Koa’s unique tonal flavors to the guitar. The stock ’57 Classic humbuckers have been upgraded to a Seymour Duncan Custom Shop Phat Cat Staple in the neck position and an “MJ Wound” Antiquity in the bridge position for a clear, vintage style tone that will excel in blues, jazz, rock, and more!

Cosmetic Condition

This guitar was very well-kept by its previous owner with very few signs of playwear.  Aside from some very minor pickguard scuffing, there exists a limited series of pinhole sized finish imperfections on the back at both the bass and treble cutaway. We would rate this guitar in EXCELLENT+ to NEAR MINT condition.
