Though it has gone by many names in the past and even present (American Performer, American Pro Classic, etc.) in 2009 the American Special line represented an opportunity for a player to enjoy a US built guitar, on a budget that professionals and journeymen alike could realize.  Unique to this era were the Custom Shop Texas Special pickups, pickups known to be hotter than your average single coil as they are over wound for increased output, making this Strat a natural choice for anyone looking for a US made Fender, with extra body and bite.

Cosmetic Condition:

While this guitar was well maintained by its previous owner there are a couple of blemishes of which one should be aware.  Most notably, there are several small dings in the finish on the front towards the butt, beneath the bridge.  Additionally, there is some lacquer sink on the back consistent with many instruments of its era, along with modest signs of normal playwear across the top and back.  It is also worth nothing that the zipper on the front pocket of the gig bag is non functioning.  With all of this in mind, we would consider this guitar to be in VERY GOOD+ to EXCELLENT condition.
