2000 Kent Everett Classical
Carlos Everett (a.k.a. Kent Everett) is an Atlanta-based luthier who developed a strong reputation as a both a builder and a repairman. While he is particularly well-known for steel string guitars, Everett also built several nylon string guitars (some of which were sold in our shop) and some archtop guitars. In addition to their unique quality of sound, Everett guitars are a display of tasteful modern aesthetic—for instance, note this guitar’s intriguing bi-level headstock, as well as the soft visual texture of the satin finish and the pleasing contrast of Koa binding with the traditional cedar top and rosewood back and sides. The voice of this guitar is firm, focused, and balanced, with well-defined and generally well-sustained notes. While we would not describe its response as explosive (and “explosive” response on its own is not always a good thing!), this Everett certainly offers the player plenty of dynamic flexibility and overall expressiveness. All in all, it is a fine example of homegrown lutherie and a wonderful handmade instrument at a most modest price.
Condition
Evidently, this guitar was purchased by its previous owner while he was studying classical guitar. Following his studies, he moved on to different musical pursuits and this guitar subsequently spent most of the following years properly stored in its case. As a result, there is little to no wear to report, nor any structural issues of concern. Early on, an active pickup was added which still functions well. EXCELLENT+ to NEAR MINT Condition
