"The Traditional or "T" Series guitars reflect Bill Collings' return to his guitar making roots and offer a new tonal variation on the distinctive Collings sound. Each T Series guitar is built using animal protein glue and a very thin all nitrocellulose lacquer finish on the body, making them exceptionally dynamic and responsive. Bracing and tone woods are adjusted for weight and thickness to create a voicing characterized by warm, rounded highs and a present low midrange, while retaining a quick attack and strong projection." - From the Collings website

The Collings D1 has become firmly established as one of the most outstanding modern interpretations of the classic pre-WWII Martin D-18

While one would be challenged to find fault with any element of a Collings build, we have observed that, upon seeing classic Martin or Gibson influence in Collings designs, many folks immediately form an expectation of vintage Martin or Gibson tone.  Invariably, despite the obvious logical fallacy inherent in the such an expectation (i.e., only Martin builds a Martin!), these folks are puzzled or flat out disappointed when they don’t hear a Martin or Gibson in a Collings box!  Perhaps in response to this, Collings has turned their attention in recent years to offering models that incorporate more of a vintage vibe. Beginning with Traditional series, there has been a shift towards lighter build tolerances, as well as a drier, broader, and more fundamental-driven vocal quality. The most recent development in this trend are the Hill Country models, like this satin-finished OM2HA HC, which represent the most dramatic shift towards marrying the old with the new.

Condition

Though generally well-kept and free of any structural issues, this guitar does have a few relatively minor cosmetic issues to note. Most significantly, there are some deeper indentations on the treble side near the waist that are likely the result of the infamous keys-in-the-pocket faux pas.  Otherwise, upon close inspection, we note that the finish on the headstock has some faint circular impressions on both the front and back that are almost assuredly due to prolonged contact with a clip-on tuner.  EXCELLENT Condition
