Lowden

Of all the "alternative" tonewoods that have become popular in response to the scarcity of more conventional woods like Brazilian rosewood and mahogany, walnut is undoubtedly one of the most impressive. It has great bass presence and rosewood-esque color, but a drier, less-saturated note with plenty of clarity and drive. Given the drier quality of walnut, the Western Red cedar top on this Lowden F-23C, is a fitting tonewood. Not only does the cedar lend its characteristic warmth and sweetness, but its softness also tempers the immediacy of the walnut's response. These complex tonal qualities combined with George Lowden's unmistakable rich and airy voicing make for a gorgeous sound that is a thrill to experience.

One might best characterize the amazing sound of a Lowden guitar as "cathedral-like". We think this term conveys the huge presence of these guitars, and their unique ability to produce and sustain notes with delicate openness and brilliance against such a surprisingly strong foundation. The voicing of this guitar and George Lowden's choice of tonewoods have created a very pliable, responsive and exciting instrument which makes fingerstyle playing seem effortless and pickstyle strumming crisp, open and full.

Condition: There is virtually no play wear on this guitar. There are no dings or scratches other than an approximately 7mm scratch above the jack on the bottom bout. EXTREMELY FINE
