2002. HD-35S Judy Collins

$7,250.00

In the world of folk music, there is no bigger name than Judy Collins. With her ethereal voice, she was one of the first singers to record songs by Randy Newman and Joni Mitchell, and she is the woman who inspired Stephen Stills to write Suite Judy Blue Eyes. Judy was an arbiter of taste in the culture of the 60s. Always a big fan of Martin guitars, especially D-18s and D-28s, she famously played a 1971 Martin D-1235S that now resides in the Martin Museum.

This HD-35SJC, #50 of only 50 made, is the 6-string sister of the HD12-35SJC 12-String and both are prime examples of 12-fret Dreadnoughts. They were brought in as a matching pair and it would be great to keep them together so as not to subject them to extreme loneliness and separation anxiety!

The HD-35SJC is a classic example of what a 12-fret Dreadnought has to offer. The shorter scale means less tension which leads to a more immediate response and great headroom. There is a robust character in the low end that can be tempered when playing finger-style pieces; volume when you need it and finesse when it is required.

The cosmetic appointments, especially the 3-piece back with the striking Pacific Big Leaf Maple center section and the Wildflower logo on the headstock are tasteful and fantastic.
