Bloomfield Drive Combo

Bloomfield Drive Combo

$5,400.00

“Revisiting our classic 2-channel platform, the Bloomfield Drive features many of our new build techniques and upgraded components including our proprietary output transformer. When switching wattages on the 100/50w and 40/20w models, this transformer compensates for impedance and phase differences so there is no adverse affect on the tone or feel of the amp. The responsiveness, depth and bandwidth of the clean channel is instantly familiar, and cascades into an articulate, touch dynamic lead channel that is a pleasure to play. As an extension of the clean channel, this new lead channel gives the player rich harmonics, added gain, and a beautiful sustain. The highly effective tone shaping options include mini-toggle EQ switches for EQ1/EQ2, Bright, Mids, and Deep. Engaging the foot-switchable tone stack bypass to either channel pushes the amp to another dimension of overdriven tones. The Bloomfield Drive features a new sophisticated all tube spring reverb circuit specifically designed to not interfere with the overdrive channel so the reverb can be cranked and yet retain clear note definition, a sweet top end and touch sensitivity when pushing the lead gain. With the Send and Return control, you can tailor your reverb for any room or ambient effect you desire.

Our trade dress puts this amp in a sleek silver or classic black anodized chassis with gray tolex, silver thread grill cloth and blue accent piping. Not only will you stand out on stage with rich overdrive tones and classic Two-Rock cleans, but so will your rig!” – From the Two Rock Website

If you can imagine what it would feel like to be riding your bike down the street before being stopped by someone driving a Lamborghini, handed the keys and told to go drive 200mph down the highway, then you may be able to imagine what it feels like to sit down in front of a Two Rock Bloomfield Drive for the first time. This may be a dramatic metaphor, but so is the absolutely astounding sound that comes from this amp. As one of the leaders in the field of Dumble clones, Two Rock Amplification has swept across the world of professional guitar players and found its way onto the stage of just about anyone you can imagine. Joey Landreth, Eric Johnson, Joe Bonamassa, John Mayer, Ariel Posen and many more have flocked to these amps as a means of capturing the tones in their head – for good reason too. Two Rock amps exhibit a tone that is so wide open and raw, they’ll have your brain feeling the same way.

This particular Bloomfield that we have here in the store is no exception to this reputation. Upon first sitting down in front of it, there was certainly a “Lamborghini” moment. Starting with the clean channel, the harmonic content that comes from the speaker is boundless. The lows are huge yet firm, the high end is crisp and clear, but the midrange content is where this amp thrives. Said midrange blooms in a way that makes one’s playing blend with the band but also is touch sensitive enough to cut through when needed. This response makes this amplifier incredibly transparent in terms of translating what is happening in your hands to what you are hearing come out of the speaker. Because of this, there is no barrier to expression when it comes to playing through a Two Rock Bloomfield Drive.

The lead channel on this amp is also something quite inspiring. It occupies a higher territory on the frequency spectrum that one might expect, but still has low end characteristics that make it work for the scenario that one would more than likely use it in. This low end is incredibly tight, avoiding the muddy frequencies that make a distorted sound feel suffocated. This helps it to be heard more clearly in a full band or mix setting. The upper midrange and high end of this channel is where much of the uniqueness lies. It has the ability to get quite bright, but in a way that is still pleasing and clear with a very “tearing paper” like quality to it. It is compressed and even, giving the player an added edge of consistent upper-range clarity and punch. Albeit a unique gain sound, it still feels like it is coming from the same amplifier when engaged and also has the ability to clean up with a simple twist of the guitar’s volume control. The same flexibility can be found in the clean channel. By boosting the gain and dialing back on the master volume, the clean channel can easily reach tube breakup. All of this is just another testament to this amps expressive and open nature.

Within both of these channels exists an EQ setup that allows for even more flexibility of tone. Accessible from either the foot switch or the front panel of the amp, the “bypass” feature allows you to disengage the tone stack, giving the amp a bit more of a midrange punch that would be great for some extra cut or a solo section.  There are more adjustable switches including a bright switch, deep switch (adds low end extension) and switch for the lead channel. The change to the lead channel can also be achieved by using the foot switch, but this gives you another option in case you are not running said foot switch on a gig.

With all of these features taken into account, it is incredibly exciting to have an amp that will crush any situation it’s in without the need of pedals or any other effects. The Bloomfield Drive from Two Rock exudes an authority that will have you constantly coming back to it to discover new sounds. With something that inspiring, it’s impossible not to become an entirely new player – moving from the bicycle to the Lamborghini with ease.

This amp exhibits no visible signs of wear and was kept in immaculate condition by its original owner. As such, we would rate it in EXCELLENT++ condition.
