This new satin finished all mahogany Grand Auditorium model pairs a solid Tropical mahogany top with solid Sapele (African mahogany) back and sides. Other features include an ebony fingerboard, ebony bridge pins, rosewood headstock overlay, and black body binding.
From the Taylor website:
"The African sapele used for backs and sides of the 300 Series shares many of mahogany’s tonal properties - distinctions include slightly less midrange punch and an extra splash of treble brightness. Compared to a Sitka spruce top, the mahogany top’s greater density produces extra compression, which translates into a more controlled, focused tone. A spruce top will yield a quicker response, while a mahogany top adds a more subtle “roll-in” effect to the notes, along with even sustain. With a tonal focus that will articulate clearly with other instruments both on stage and in a recorded mix, the compression of the mahogany top will suit players who have a more aggressive strumming or picking attack."
