C.2016 OO~Skye Custom 00 12-Fret Deepbody with Adirondack Spruce and Cocobolo Rosewood

General Description:
Built to the standards of premier acoustic jazz guitarist Eric Skye, the Santa Cruz 00 Skye is an exemplary guitar that showcases perfect synchrony between luthier and artist. This model combines the comfort of a 12-fret 00-style guitar with a complex tonality and harmonic sophistication courtesy of Santa Cruz’s sublime voicing of its Adirondack and Cocobolo tonewoods. Additionally, its deeper body yields greater volume and bass response that defy the confines of its small body. The result is a guitar with all the nuances that a fingerstyle player demands, but with a bold and powerful voice.

From the Santa Cruz website:

"Portland based jazz guitarist Eric Skye was named by 20th Century Guitar Magazine as “one of the best rising stars of the American acoustic jazz scene.” This hardworking instrumentalist has gained a loyal following both as a dramatic and expressive live performer and an in-demand acoustic guitar instructor both in Oregon and in the online music community. He has been featured in magazines such as Acoustic Guitar, Guitar Player, Jazziz and Jazz Improv, and his music can be heard on NPR. To match his distinct personality and playing style, Eric and Richard collectively dreamed up a gorgeous Cocobolo OO with an Adirondack top, unique 24.9 inch scale length for ease of playability, slightly deeper body for added bass and volume, hot hide glue with Adirondack Spruce, scalloped bracing and a distinctive herringbone purfling and ivoroid rosette. This instrument is designed for the excruciatingly accurate and sophisticated techniques of the most demanding jazz fingerstylist."

Cosmetic Condition:
This guitar was very well-maintained by its previous owner. However, this guitar does show signs of some small, incipient cracks on the butt, side of the lower bout, and the back on both sides of the lower bout. Incipient cracks are subtle ones that may or may not develop into full cracks later on. These cracks are consistent with the sometimes brittle or fickle nature of Cocobolo, as well as other similar hardwoods such as Madagascar Rosewood and Brazilian Rosewood . As such, these cracks are not open and there is no current cause for alarm, especially if the guitar is well cared for. Additionally, there is some subtle finish swirling and minor scratches on the back. We would rate this guitar in EXCELLENT to EXCELLENT+ condition.
