Collings Guitars USED I-35 DLX 15" Semi-Hollowbody with Carved Solid Maple and Mahogany and Tobacco Sunburst Finish

This guitar is a peerless example of what can be achieved when an accomplished artisan reinterprets an iconic classic.

With an uncanny understanding of the tonal properties of wood, a sophisticated appreciation of the subtleties of playability, and a passion for excellence that makes for uncompromising build quality, Bill Collings consistently produces guitars that establish the standard for superior performance and aesthetic beauty. Prima facia evidence of his mastery is this I-35.

While Bill Collings certainly draws stylistic inspiration from the Gibson 335 for this guitar, it is in the substance of this instrument that his expression is made manifest. The carefully selected all solid woods used for the body have been hand carved and voiced to produce an extraordinarily smooth and pure natural tone which provides a clean solid platform for the amazingly responsive Lollar pickps. The beautiful fretwork and comfortable neck profile make for an especially supple feel which enhances the expressive playability of this instrument. And, the exquisite finish work is complemented by sumptuous details which include custom made ivoroid knobs and pickup brackets which match the tuning buttons and body binding. Fundamentally, this astonishing guitar is simply a wonderful tool for music making which happens to be mouthwateringly gorgeous - maybe it should come with a bib.

This splendid guitar comes to us by way of a local collector who recently decided to thin his inventory a bit. It is one of ten instruments we acquired, and like all of the others, it is in superb condition with hardly any evidence of playing wear. Moreover, because it is a pre-owned contemporary instrument, it can be purchased at a depreciated price which makes it an exceptional buying opportunity for its next owner.

This guitar includes a deluxe Cedar Creek archtop hardshell case.
