Used Classical GuitarsDick, Edward: DICK BRZ CWY(Item ID: DICK BRZ CWY)
Edward V. Dick 2005 Custom Classical with Cutaway and K&K PickupThis guitar was commissioned by a very talented local performer and longtime friend and customer of ours who is primarily a bluegrass specialist, but his musical tastes are wide ranging which means that he has many instruments to satisfy his various interests. However, recently he decided to part with this outstanding beauty with its many unique features. This instrument can be regarded loosely as a hybrid concert classical guitar. It features a cutaway, a 50mm nut width with slightly closer 8.25mm string spacing, a radiused fingerboard, a K&K pickup, and two very unique accessories which were made at the request of the original owner after the construction of the guitar was complete. This guitar includes a pair of fingerboard extensions which mount by way of two 2" long tines that are inserted into two complimentary sleeves located under the end of the existing fingerboard! Each extension spans the diameter of the soundhole, and is then cleverly secured in place by embedded magnets which align with others of opposite polarity mounted under the lower lip of the soundhole. One extension provides an additional eight frets for a total of twenty-seven www.evd303.com , while the other is a fretless extension. There is no doubt that the these two devices will surprise and fascinate your friends and listeners. What is even more enthralling is the look and sound of this fine instrument. It features highly figured "stump" Brazilian rosewood back and sides set off by lovely koa bindings and an Italian spruce top complimented by a Spalted maple rosette. The back is divided into two panels by an original diamond mosaic center strip. In contrast to many hybrid guitars, this instrument features a full body size which most certainly contributes to the warm and rich foundation that supports its sweet, lyrical trebles. Together, these tonal qualities make for a smooth, sophisticated sound that will enhance any type of music. In a recent conversation with Mr. Dick, he stated that a comparable instrument made today would be priced at $7500. In which case, this barely used, individually crafted guitar with its cornucopia of unique elements could be considered currently as priced conservatively. Regardless, it is a delightful instrument eager to share its attractive attributes with a new companion. This guitar includes an archtop hardshell case. www.evd303.com (used)
