Claudio Morichetti Classical with Cedar Top and Brazilian Rosewood Back and Sides
We first met Claudio Morichetti when he and his Argentine colleague Ademar Barbizan visited us recently with some exciting new guitars they had made. Mr. Barbizan has visited us before, and we have already sold some of his instruments. He brought along a new guitar which is reviewed on another page of our website.
The guitars of Mr. Morichetti feature an arched back design, but the top bracing may differ on the instruments. The parabolic shape of the arched back functions to concentrate the vibrational energy that is reflected from the back of the guitar in a manner that aims to add more focus and definition to the guitar's sound. If the bold, vibrant, lively and alluring voice that this guitar exhibits can be directly attributed to the arched back, then more builders might consider it. But the back can't be the whole story for his top bracing is unique as well.
On this guitar, he has used a Smallman top bracing design which employs the use of a lattice bracing with a unique interior framing system. This design, known for its dynamic effect, adds directness, drive, strength and sustain to the sound making the instrument very inviting to play and explore.
The beautiful woods alone make the Morichetti guitar an attractive instrument, but he has added some unusual carved bone inlays to the rosette along with a bone carving for the headstock which is an uncommon decoration on a classical guitar. Also distinctive are the multi-piece neck and the unusually shaped heel.
We are excited to have this surprising newcomer in our stable of guitars. It is a worthy addition with a dynamic voice that scores very high in balance, clarity, projection, and tone color. These attributes make it an instrument which should command a player's attention and consideration.
This guitar includes a deluxe archtop hardshell case.
