Martin 00-15M 15 Series 00 with all Solid MahoganyThe new 15M models, of which this is one, are distinguished from other guitars in the 15 series by the addition of numerous new features. First, genuine mahogany, rather than Sapele which is sometimes called African mahogany, is used for the top, back and sides. Genuine mahogany, rather than a select hardwood, is also used for the neck. The fingerboard is ornamented with diamond and square inlays, and the top is dressed with a Delmar tortoise colored pickguard. Bone, not Corian, is used for both the nut and the custom compensated saddle. The bridge pins are ebony rather than plastic. And finally, the nickel tuning machines are vintage style with open gears and butterbean knobs. The mahogany top of the 15 Series guitars creates a distinctive sound with great projection and balance. Like the simple natural appearance of these guitars, the sound is earthy, warm, direct, and firm.
